Airbus A380 maiden flight has Meggitt Safety Systems parts

Meggitt Safety Systems, a unit of the Meggitt Aerospace Equipment Group, has played a vital role in today’s successful maiden flight of the Airbus A380.
The world's biggest airliner, Airbus’ double-decker platform will be protected by Meggitt’s monitors. Meggitt monitors this mammoth aircraft to make sure that even the slightest change in conditions can be dealt with quickly; making sure each and every flight delivers home safely the family who will depend on this new airliner for travel of the future.
Meggitt Safety Systems is providing the fire and overheat detection for the engines, main landing gear and the auxiliary power unit. The system is microcomputer based and provides status information to the on-board central maintenance computer and also contains its own built-in test program.
The system which is vital to the safety of passengers, crew, cargo, and the aircraft, detects fire events, warns the crew, provides on-ground auxiliary power unit extinguishing, allows in-flight fire extinguishing monitoring in engines and auxiliary power unit, detects failures/deficiencies during operation, performs automatic/periodic system tests and manages failure deficiencies during operation.
Meggitt PLC group has been a big supporter of the Airbus platform and Meggitt’s many divisions have numerous parts installed that increase the safety of flight.
