Meggitt Safety Systems provides explosion protection for military vehicles

Meggitt Safety Systems, a unit of the Meggitt Aerospace Equipment Group, announced a new contract to provide vehicles explosion protection systems for the military.

Building on its industrial optical detector legacy, Meggitt is refining a line of optical detector and extinguishers that have been successfully tested on the various military vehicles. To further prove the reliability, survivability, and effectiveness of its systems, Meggitt will participate in a live fire test on Humvees at Aberdeen Proving Grounds later this month.

Meggitt has been producing fire protection detectors and optical detectors for the military and industrial applications for over 40 years. Meggitt is using a wide range of products to save troops and ensure their ability to accomplish their assigned mission. Meggitt has been using thermistor based sensors to safe guard the engine compartments on tanks, assault hover crafts (LCACs) boats and other assault crafts for many years. Most vehicle applications will benefit from the combination of various sensors technologies designed and built by Meggitt and provide a complete coverage of sensors along with millisecond extinguishing which are key to saving lives not only in Iraq, but where ever our troops come into harms way.
